As a work-at-home solopreneur, I like to use “theme” days to organize my work (something I learned from Todd Herman in his 90 Day Year program).
Friday's theme is Personal Errands and Friends. I schedule house cleaning, haircuts, and personal appointments for Fridays. And I try to line up a local friend to have lunch with. I took this photo in Portsmouth NH before lunch with friends from grad school on a recent Friday.
My other theme days follow–and I do work in other tasks around these themes, but the themes take precedence.
It can take a few weeks to get your schedule adjusted to make theme days work, but I find it well worth the effort.
MONDAYS: CREATE
This means I'm developing content for lessons or live presentations or blog or whatever is needed.
TUESDAYS: TEACH LIVE, RECORD
This is when I do my group office hours/coaching for paid students as well as free live streams on FB or IGTV recordings.
WEDNESDAYS: COACH & MEET
I've got coaching hours available on Wednesdays for clients, and I meet with my virtual teammate, the incomperable Amy Kingsford.
THURSDAYS: CREATE & COACH
This is another day with a big block of content creation time, and coaching hours available for clients.
FRIDAYS: PERSONAL
As I noted above, this is when I schedule appointments and get out with friends.
On Saturdays & Sundays, I reallly like to work a bit each of these mornings, creating content or learning or just thinking for an hour or two. I don't always get to, and personal life will take priority, but I can often get a bit of time in.
Do you use theme days? Could you see this process working for you?
