I'm the chief weed-whacker at my house. I'm the chief of many things in my online teaching business … 🍏
💛…which I LOVE.
If you're just beginning to think about building an online teaching business, you might not even know what this chief-work looks like.
That work actually DEPENDS …
It depends on which stage of business you're in. Here are three first stages. Take a look and tell me which one you're in!
The first stage is IDEA. 💡
This is when you have an idea about what you want to teach—you might even have more than one idea. But you don’t have a business yet.
Your focus in this stage will be on IDEA VALIDATION. By that I mean, you’ll focus on figuring out what kind of course you can profitably create and sell. That means you're working with your audience and you're making first “nimble” offers. A nimble offer could be a minimum viable course (like a mini course) or a beta offer of a bigger course.
The second stage is STARTUP. 🏁
This is when you’ve got a course—or even courses—created but your sales aren’t predictable. You need more cash flow.
Your focus in this stage is marketing and product development. You’ll spend time refining or even building your sales funnels and launch events. It’s a time of making and improving offers. It’s also a time of creating or shoring up your signature course and of adding onto your course portfolio.
The third stage is GROWTH. 🌱
This is when you’ve got marketing systems and courses in place, your business is profitable BUT you’re working all the time.
The work now focuses on streamlining operations, getting standard operating procedures in place and outsourcing some work. You’ll also work to create optimized courses and offers with all the bells and whistles on your funnels.
Tell me: which stage are you in? Idea, Startup or Growth?
